Timothy (T.J.) is an outstanding 2012 graduate at Forest Hills Eastern
High School. He is interested in pursuing
Besides being an academic leader and having excellent test scores, T.J. had very impressive letters of recommendation from his AP instructors. His Mathematics teacher wrote:
“In all my years as a mathematics teacher, T.J. easily ranks as one of the best students I have ever had the pleasure to work with. His mathematical ability for a high school student is rare and exceptional, and his humble nature is a real treat. T.J. far exceeds the average student in many ways. His involvement here at school and in the community is a real asset”.
T.J.’s Physics instructor writes:
“T.J. is among the best physics students I have ever had. He has a great desire to learn. T.J. is graduating in the top of his class and he is a very gifted student. More importantly, he has good character and integrity”.
To be a class leader one has to excel beyond academics and Timothy has certainly met that challenge. Among his many outside activities he participated on the basketball, football and golf teams. He is also a member of the math and chess club. He has been recognized with the Outstanding Band Student Award each year and has been a member of the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony for four years. He was selected to play with the All-State Honors Band for Michigan in 2011. T.J. is the Treasurer and Member of the National Honors Society and still finds time to be very active in his church.
Well rounded certainly comes to mind when you have the pleasure of knowing T.J. DeVries.
The Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Fund is extremely proud to have Timothy (T.J.) Joel DeVries as its 45th Scholar.
