Besides being an academic leader and having excellent test scores, Kathryn had very impressive letters of recommendation from her AP instructors. Her Chemistry teacher wrote:
“Kathryn is a creative problem solver, tenacious learner and a courageous young woman. She enjoys the challenge of moving through material at a college pace even though it requires an increase in the depth of understanding compared to her high school chemistry base of knowledge. Kathryn is a bright successful student that has maturity seldom seen in a high school student.”
Kathryn’s Physics instructor writes: “A few words that come to mind when I think of Kathryn are giving, intelligent and inquisitive. Kathryn is someone who enjoys helping others and getting into anything mathematical. She is comfortable in her love of math and science and it is rare to see students who love these two areas of academia and share that passion with everyone around them. Kathryn will be successful in what ever
area she decides to pursue and her passion for engineering is contagious.”
To be a class leader one has to excel beyond academics and Kathryn has certainly met that challenge. Among her many outside activities she was active on the Policy Debate Team, Quiz Bowl Team, Science Olympiad and Earth Club. She also volunteered at Mary Free Bed.
The Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship Fund is extremely proud to have Kathryn as its 43rd Scholar.
