Lukas is an honor student at Grand Rapids Christian High School. He is interested in attending Calvin College, The University of Michigan or Harvard. Though undecided in his course of study, he’s leaning toward physics/astronomy and becoming an astronomy professor.
Lukas’s recommendations were superb. His AP Chemistry and Physics teacher wrote: “Luke is probably the most scientifically oriented student in our school right now. He has consistently opted for the most challenging science courses that our school offers and has succeeded at the top of each class. I cannot say enough positive words about him. I can recommend Luke with highest praise for any scientific scholarship there is.”
Lukas’s physical science teacher commented “I have been a teacher for 36 years and Luke is one of the top five students I have ever taught. He loves to learn and is very active in learning outside of the classroom. One of the credentials he possesses is that since his freshman year he has never placed lower than 3rd in the astronomy competition for the Science Olympiad at Grand Valley State University. He recently placed first at a competition that was represented by 20 schools. He is the type of person who is well deserving of your scholarship. There are not enough superlatives that can describe this young man.”
Some of the extra-curricular activities that Lukas is involved with include the Science Olympiad, football, forensics, violin, school newspaper, tutoring and the chapel planning committee. Daniel’s community activities include the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony, Rotary Club of Grand Rapids and Science Olympiad Coach.
The Roger B. Chaffee scholarship fund is proud to have Lukas as its 40th scholar.
